PUCK STYLE REAR COIL SPRING SPACER INSTALLATION INFORMATION.
1964 - 1966 and Early 1967 GM A-Body

                                    Part No. BE-5514-R

These spacers are the same as 65-72 full sized Chev and Pontiacs except the bottom has an area removed to clear the weld that sticks up on the back of the coil spring platform sometimes. If yours does not have any weld sticking up then do not worry about the recessed part as it does not affect anything on installation. Make sure you order the ones for your application. Do not think the other ones will be ok.

Always check the coil spring platform or lower control arm to see if there is a bolt going through to hold the coil spring on. If there IS A BOLT, then this is your application. If there is NO BOLT, then you have the newer type. See order page for this spacer.

This spacer goes under the original clamp so save the clamps.

STEP 1: This is a housing from a 1966 El Camino, yours should be similar. Remove the bolt and clamp and coil and clean the platform. Wire brush it and get all the scale off of it so the SPACER will sit perfectly flat. This is a good time to put more paint on the platform where you wire brushed it if needed. Some housings have 2 bolt holes and some have 1. Make sure you put the spacer in the same hole that was used before. Usually that is the one closest to the housing. This is what your housing should look like before installing the spacer.       Click to Enlarge Pictures

STEP 2: Set the spacer on the platform and then the coil and then the clamp and bolt and tighten just enough so that you can turn the coil when it is installed in the car so the top of the coil matches any groove that might be on the car at the top of the coil. Some of the clamps are the same shape as the coil and some are not, so if yours is the same shape then make sure it fits the coil snug. This is important. If you do not turn the coils to match the grooves, then one will be a different height when you are done. When everything is lined up then tighten them up. Any questions about this part please call. Bare control arm

Step 3: Your finished housing will look like this (the same as step 2 only bolted down tight). After you have installed everything and drove the car around the block then check the bolts to make sure they are tight. Sometimes they may have been out just a very little and this will snug them up again.

Budzter's Coil Spring Spacers will lift your coil springs up 1 full inch resulting in a lift of 1 inch. The resulting compression of the coil spring may lift it 1/8 to 1/2 inch depending on the strength of your coil springs.
