REAR COIL SPRING ADJUSTER INSTALLATION INFORMATION.
1964 - 1966 and Early 1967 GM A-Body

                                    Part No. BE-6570-RW

Budzter's coil spring adjusters will lift your coil springs about 1 1/2 inches without any adjustments. You can then adjust for a lift of about 2 more inches. You can also use our adjusters for preloading the rear suspension (right rear) for maximum traction.

This coil spring adjuster replaces the original system with the clamp and bolt holding the spring on the rear housing. This system makes your rear suspension adjustable for bigger tires, more passengers or better traction.

On these 1964 to 1966 and early 1967 cars the spring is held on with a clamp and bolt, but to be sure, you should always check under the spring platform to see if there is a bolt going through the middle of the coil especially 1967 models. If you did not purchase it new then it could have been changed to a different rear housing. If you do not see or feel a bolt then you have the newer style and need to look at that installation information. See order page for these adjusters (68-72). 1967 rear housings could be either style as this seems to be the change over year, so be sure to check it.

STEP 1: This is a housing from a 1966 El Camino, yours should be similar. Remove the bolt and clamp and coil and clean the platform. Probably wire brush it and get all the scale off of it so the adjuster will sit perfectly flat. This is a good time to put more paint on the platform where you wire brushed it if needed. This is what it should look like when you are ready to install the adjuster.

STEP 2: Next, you can put the bottom piece of the adjuster on the platform. We machined a small knob in the bottom to align the adjusters so they are exactly the same on both sides. Put this knob in the hole and turn the adjuster so the bolt holes are at approximately 3, 6, and 9 o'clock and mark the 3 holes and drill them. We also machined a bit off the back side of the adjuster to clear any weld that might stick up where the platform is conected to the housing. All 3 holes are necessary. Make sure there are no brake or fuel lines under the platform. Then bolt the bottom part on the platform with the grade 8 3/8 bolts and lock nuts.

Step 3: Now you can put the top part on and screw it all the way to the bottom of the threads. You are ready to set the coil on and move to the next one. Here is a picture of the adjuster turned all the way down, and a picture of it turned half way down.

Step 4: This is what it will look like with the adjuster and the coil on the platform. We also supply a wrench with this application so you can adjust them easier.
