REAR COIL SPRING SPACER CONVERSION INSTALLATION INFORMATION.
1964 - 1966 and Early 1967 GM A-Body

                                    Part No. BE-5518-R
Budzter's Coil Spring Spacers will lift your coil springs up 1 full inch resulting in a lift of 1 inch. The resulting compression of the coil spring may lift it 1/8 to 1/2 inch more depending on the strength of your coil springs.

This coil spring spacer replaces the original system with the clamp and bolt holding the spring on to the newer type with an alignment ridge and the weight of the car to hold the coil spring on. This system is used by GM from about 1973 to the present.

Installation information for 1964 - 1966 and early 1967 GM A-Body cars such as Chevelle, GTO etc. These cars have the coil spring held on with a clamp and a bolt. Always check the coil spring platform to see if there is a bolt going through to hold the coil spring on. If there IS A BOLT, then this is your application. If there is NO BOLT, then you have the newer type. See order page for this spacer.

STEP 1: After you remove the bolt and clamp and spring, make sure there is no rust or scale on the platform where the spacer sits. This has to be clean so the spacer will sit flat.

Step 2: Next, you can bolt the spacer on to the platform with the grade 8 bolt and nut supplied. Make sure it is bolted down tight and the cut out on the bottom of the spacer is over the weld at the back of the platform, where it is welded to the housing. This will keep it level.

Step 3: Next you can put the coil spring on top of the spacer and see that it does not slide off. The older coils have a slightly oblong bottom ring, but we accounted for that. They have no reason to move around when the car is on them so this will not be a problem. Reinstall everything back on the car making sure the top of the coil sits into any groove at the top where the coil sits in the body. Sometimes you will have to turn them to sit properly at the top.
