PUCK STYLE REAR COIL SPRING SPACER INSTALLATION INFORMATION.
1965 - 1972 Full Sized GM Cars

                                    Part No. BE-5516-R

Installation information for older GM full sized cars from about 1965 to 1972. These cars have the coil spring held on with a clamp and a bolt. Always check the coil spring platform or lower control arm to see if there is a bolt going through to hold the coil spring on. If there IS A BOLT, then this is your application. If there is NO BOLT, then you have the newer type. See order page for this spacer.

This spacer goes under the original clamp so save the clamps.

STEP 1: This is what your lower control arm should look like with the coil spring held on with a clamp and bolt.       Click to Enlarge Pictures

STEP 2: After you remove the bolt and clamp and spring, make sure there is no rust or scale on the arm where the spacer sits. This has to be clean so the spacer will sit flat. Bare control arm

Step 3: Put spacer over bolt hole and set coil spring on top. Put clamp and the grade 8 bolt, lock nut and washer that we supply on loose. Put a little bit of pressure on the coil to hold it (not very much, you still want to be able to turn the spring). Now turn the spring so it fits into the groove at the top where the body is (if there is a groove). Make sure it is turned in properly because this is what helps hold everything in place.

When that is done, then put the clamp over the bottom ring of the coil so it fits like another skin, meaning it should be the same shape as the coil it is holding. Some clamps are just like large washers also. Now you can tighten the bolt but keep checking to make sure everything is still lined up. After you drive the car a little, maybe the next day or so, check and make sure they are still tight. If not, check to be sure they are lined up properly and tighten again.
Budzter's Coil Spring Spacers will lift your coil springs up 1 full inch resulting in a lift of 1 inch. The resulting compression of the coil spring may lift it 1/8 to 1/2 inch depending on the strength of your coil springs.

TESTIMONIAL

"I finally achieved the ride height using the Budzter rear coil spring spacers for my 1965 Chevrolet Impala. It was a pleasure to deal with Budzter Enterprises who were so knowledgeable, they were able to tell me the ride height I would achieve with the spring spacers. The Chevy sits perfect now."

Thank you again for all your help,
