This is the Wills Fargo II, with the
independent front suspension and independent rear suspension,
to stop the rear tires from spinning when it came down from
the giant wheelstands it was famous for. It was probably
the only one of its kind at the time with independent suspensions.
The Kydds changed the independent rear
suspension to a complete 9 inch solid suspended rear end,
because the independent suspension took too much horse power.
In the early 70's it went 8:23 at Cayuga Speedway, now called
Toronto Motorsports Park. Changes in the rules and the cost
of running a top notch car got so high, they didn't run
it very long.
Bill Kydd Junior is in the Canadian Motorsports
Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Hall of Fame
would also like to have the Wills Fargo II.
This is
what the car looks like now. |
